The Waste Warriors group, that has worked alongside the school council, plays an important role in promoting environmental responsibility across the school. After identifying the issue of excessive waste from school dinners, the group has worked proactively to raise awareness among pupils about the impact of food waste. Through assemblies, posters, and class discussions, they encourage everyone to think carefully about portion sizes and disposing of food responsibly. By giving pupils a voice in sustainability matters, the Waste Warriors support the wider aims of the school council while leading positive change in reducing waste.
In addition, OASES have worked alongside Year 5 children on engaging projects focused on sustainability and energy usage. Pupils explored the benefits of renewable energy and developed their understanding of how small changes can have a big environmental impact. As part of this work, they designed and built their own wind turbines, linking practical learning with real-world issues. This collaboration has helped to inspire pupils to think more deeply about protecting the environment and to take an active role in creating a more sustainable future.
