A study carried out by the Social Mobility Commission in 2019 showed that children from disadvantaged backgrounds are three times less likely to take part in music lessons outside of school and are 20% less likely to participate in sporting activities outside of the classroom.
At Lanchester EP Primary School, we believe it is important for all children, regardless of their background or circumstances, to have the opportunity to take part in a plethora of activities. We understand the importance of extra-curricular activities in building self-confidence and self-esteem, contributing to vital skills such as team work and communication and helping with a host of other skills, as well as being fun.
Extra-Curricular After School Activities
At Lanchester EP Primary School, we provide a whole host of extra-curricular activities, which run after school for an hour. The clubs vary each half term and children can sign up for as many as they want.
The clubs are run by members of staff, and encompass a number of different topics in order to make sure that there is something for everyone. Some examples of previous clubs offered are:
STEM
Robotics
Road Safety
History
Knitting & Sewing
School Magazine
Geography
Lego
Sports including Hand Ball, Dodgeball, Rugby, Tennis, Athletics, Hockey, Golf, Netball, Dance & Cricket
Recently, we have also hosted Creative Kitchen after school clubs, which have proved exceptionally popular.
